Precinct Committee Persons

Each Spring, in even numbered years, Montrose Republicans gather in a meeting called Caucus. At this meeting, they assemble in neighborhood groups to choose two of their own local, Republican Representatives for their area. These neighborhood Representatives are called PCP’s or Precinct Committee Persons.

PCP’s must be officially registered Republicans and have an important job to work hard voluntarily to represent you! They are official party voting members who choose party leadership and are encouraged to:

  • Stay up to date on what’s happening locally politically.
  • Maintain lists of Republican voters in their Precinct
  • Walk neighborhoods (find volunteers to help with this project) and pass out voter information during election season.
  • Regularly attend our Republican monthly meetings. (These are held on the 2nd Thursday of every month and each PCP has an official vote. In odd numbered years, PCP's elect our local Republican Executive Central Committee leadership: Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary, and also Strategy/Planning, Events/Fundraising, Candidate Support, and Public Relations Chairs.
  • Volunteer/help where needed in our Party functions.

Colorado's Election Process

The Precinct is Colorado's smallest, grassroots political subdivision.  By law, our Republican Party must hold a Precinct Caucus prior to the Primary Election. Precinct Caucus attendees are WE THE PEOPLE who delegate candidates for the Primary Ballot. Elected Officials get their start with the support of the people who attend their neighborhood Precinct Caucus.
